PTFE (CโFโ)n is a fully fluorinated polymer consisting of carbon and fluorine atoms bonded in a linear chain structure. The strong C–F bond energy (485 kJ/mol) gives PTFE its unique combination of stability, chemical inertness, and non-stick surface behavior.

1. Chemical Inertness
PTFE’s unique molecular structure makes it resistant to strong acids, alkalis, oxidizers, and organic solvents, including hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulphuric acid, ammonia, acetone, benzene, and petroleum derivatives.
