1. TECHNICAL DESIGN STRUCTURE

1.1 Three-Component Flexible Jaw Coupling System

Each coupling consists of:
(A) Two precision-machined hubs (left & right)
(B) One elastomeric spider insert (polyurethane or special polymer)

The coupling operates using compressive loading of the spider element between concave jaws, not shear loading. This improves module deformation behavior, torque accuracy and lifespan.

RUBASIA GR series provides consistent torque based on material hardness:

  • GR14: ~12–20 Nm
  • GR19: ~25–40 Nm
  • GR24: ~70–100 Nm
  • GR28: ~160–220 Nm
  • GR38: ~350–500 Nm
  • GR42: ~600–800 Nm
  • GR48: ~1000–1200 Nm
  • GR55: ~1700–2100 Nm
  • GR75: ~3500–4500 Nm

(Values vary depending on spider hardness & hub material.)

 

4. MISALIGNMENT TOLERANCES

4.1 Allowable Misalignment

Spider couplings are designed to compensate for multiple misalignment types:

5. OPERATIONAL LIMITS

5.1 Speed Limit (Max RPM):

  • GR14 → 7,000 RPM
  • GR19–GR48 → 5,000–6,000 RPM
  • GR55–GR75 → 3,500–4,000 RPM

Suitable for high-speed motors in industrial plants across Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Bintulu, Bandar Seri Begawan and surrounding towns.

 

5.2 Temperature Resistance

  • Standard PU spider: –40°C to +120°C
  • Special-grade TPU: –40°C to +150°C

Perfect for hot processing lines in palm oil mills (Sabah, Sarawak) and refinery plants in Brunei.

 

5.3 Damping Characteristics

  • Torsional damping factor: 0.05–0.12
  • Excellent absorption of peak loads
  • Minimizes torsional resonance in pumps, blowers, compressors

 

6. FAIL-SAFE ENGINEERING

RUBASIA spider couplings feature fail-safe jaw geometry, meaning:

  • Even if the spider insert fails, torque transmission continues through metal-to-metal jaw interaction.
  • Prevents sudden equipment stoppage in plants located in Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Mukah, Limbang, Tutong etc.
  • A critical requirement for continuous 24/7 operations.
