1.0 Material Specification & Composition

• Base Polymer: Virgin Suspension Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC-S), Grade: Food Contact Compliant.
• Plasticiser System: Primary: Dioctyl Terephthalate (DOTP). Content: ~32% by weight. Ensures low-temperature flexibility (-30°C impact resistance) and low volatility for extended service life.
• Stabiliser System: Calcium-Zinc (Ca-Zn) organometallic stabilisers. Ensures thermal stability during processing and resistance to degradation from heat and UV exposure. (Lead-Free, Cadmium-Free, REACH/SRoC compliant).
• Insect-Repellent System:
  • Optical Deterrence: Precisely metered yellow pigment (Colour Index: PY138) to produce a peak light transmission wavelength of 575-585 nm, proven to disrupt phototaxis in Musca domestica (common housefly) and other dipterans.
  • Vapour-Phase Repellent (Optional): Masterbatch incorporation of Butopyronoxyl (Di-n-propyl isocinchomeronate) at a concentration of ~1.5%. This EPA-approved additive creates a vapour barrier that repels insects without affecting product smell or taste.
• UV Stabiliser (Optional): Addition of 0.3% Benzotriazole-class UV absorber to mitigate polymer chain scission and colour fade for applications with prolonged direct sunlight exposure.

• Haze: < 8% (Provides clear visibility despite tint).
• Service Temperature Range: -30°C to +70°C (Continuous duty). Suitable for blast freezers and hot kitchen environments.
• UV Resistance: Standard material shows negligible colour shift (ΔE<3) after 500 hours in a QUV-A accelerated weathering tester. UV-stabilised option recommended for exterior applications.

 

4.0 Efficacy & Compliance

• Insect Repellency: Proven to reduce fly entry by >90% compared to an open doorway in controlled studies.
• Food Safety: Formulation complies with:
  • US FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 (Rubber articles intended for repeated use).
  • EU Regulation 10/2011 (Plastics intended to come into contact with food).
• Odour: Neutral; no plasticiser odour migration.
• Cleanability: Resistant to dilute acids, alkalis, oils, and fats. Can be cleaned with common industrial disinfectants.

 

5.0 Installation & Handling Data

• Roll Dimensions: Core ID: 76mm (3"). Standard Roll Length: 50 linear metres. Custom lengths available.
• Packaging: Rolls are shrink-wrapped on reinforced cores for transport. Sold as loose metres from the master roll.
• Installation: Typically mounted on aluminium or steel tracks. Overlap should be a minimum of 50% of the strip width (i.e., 100mm) to ensure an effective barrier.
• Cutting: Can be cleanly cut with a sharp utility knife or rotary cutter. No thermal sealing of ends is required.
